Behind the scenes - Sales and Retail
Jason works as part of the Sales Team and looks after many of our retail accounts. Today we're going to hear a little bit about what he does day to day and what he likes about working for Greased Lightning.
“After spending time planning my routes, I make my journey to visit customers out on the road. My main customer bases are garden centres, but also the likes of automotives, warehouse stores and wholesale stores amongst others. My role is to check in with our stockists, evaluate our display stands, merchandise them and make them look as good as possible. We want them as presentable as possible. Then, if stock is needed I’ll take an order and complete the process of getting that signed off with the necessary managers and buyers, before I can then send the orders to Greased Lightning Head Office. To help my future planning, I make sure to keep an account of where I visit and take photos of the stands.
My aim is obviously to sell and bring in new customers whilst I’m on the road, but a large part of that is to also provide great customer service for the accounts I look after. In doing so I am making sure to provide buyers with new products and all necessary promotion information. My other aim is to bring in new customers whilst out on the road.
I really enjoy the freedom of my job. I enjoy chatting to different customers, building a rapport, and getting that buzz from making good sales. Being out in the field has always been something I enjoy doing. Meeting new people and providing good customer service is what I thrive on.”
