We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998).

The information we collect and how we use it

When you place an order with Greased Lightning either over the phone or via the website, we need to know your name, delivery address, credit or debit card number and expiry date, email address and telephone number. This information allows us to fulfil your order and notify you of the status of your order.

All orders are currently fulfilled by Greased Lightning UK Ltd. If we choose to use a third party service provider for fulfilment at any point in the future we will therefore pass on your details to that service provider so that they can deliver your goods to you. That third party service provider will undertake an agreement with us that they will protect that information, will not pass it on, and not use it for any other purpose than to deliver your ordered goods to you.

If you subscribe to our mailing lists, you will be asked to specify your preferred method of us keeping you informed. We may also ask you to give us optional contact information, for example your mobile number and demographic information like your age.

We use your information for the purpose of providing you with information about promotional offers available directly from us and from our retail and TV shopping partners, and information about new products and other events or features of our website which we think may be of interest to you and for related marketing purposes. You may choose to start (opt in) or stop (opt out) receiving this information at any time.

Security of your information

We follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us. This is to prevent unauthorised access or unlawful processing of your personal information. We keep your information confidential and store it on a secure server which is password protected and hidden behind a firewall from the outside world. Our payment gateway providers Sage Pay use secure socket layer software (SSL) to encrypt all of your personal information including your credit card number and your name and address. All transaction information passed between merchant sites and Sage Pay’s systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to our servers from Sage Pay are encoded to prevent tampering. No information passed to Sage Pay’s servers can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.

All sensitive data on Sage Pay is secured using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among others, the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract. The data held is extremely secure and regularly audited by the banks and banking authorities to ensure it remains so.
